Hier gehts um den Philips 880, einen DVD+ Recorder:

I expect this might start another "useless sales person" thread but I'm posting this because it is worth pointing out to any new or would-be Philips DVD Recorder user that you MUST buy + disks (+RW, +R) NO MATTER WHAT the store sales people tell you.

In Comet earlier this week I asked if they had the disks for a Philips 880 and the guy tried to sell me me -RW disks. I told him they had to be + (plus) disks and he tried to tell me these were for professionals only and - (minus) disks were all I needed for home use.

In PC World I've seen + & - disks bundled together.

In Dixons it would appear there has been some training but it obviously went in one ear and out the other - or there was some sort of memory corruption during the write process - the woman told me - (minus) disks are for write once and + (plus) disks are for "copying over when you're finished with them" !

At the Electric/Gas shop the woman there reckoned they had Philips DVD Recorders last week but had sold out - but, she added, "these are the disks we sold with them..." They were CDRW !

The funniest came at a large store called Joplings where a woman wanted to demonstrate the 880 to me and came equipped with a remote and VHS E180.
